The position of Director of Children and Youth Ministries (DCYM) is for 20 hours per week. 10 hours will be geared to our current children and youth and 10 hours will be geared to outreach and building our children and youth program.
The official job description will be developed and updated by the DCYM, the Pastor, and the Christian Education Committee, based on the DCYM’s gifts and areas of excitement. It will be approved by the Session.

The potential responsibilities:
- Plan, lead, and staff a once-a-week program for the children and youth.
- Coordinate and staff Children’s Church.
- Participate on the Christian Education (CE) and Outreach Committees.
- Use appropriate media to interact with children and youth (Social Media, Text, Web Page, etc.)
- Attend and occasionally assist in Sunday Morning and Special Worship Services.
- Plan and lead Summer Conferences.
- In conjunction with the pastor, plan and lead Summer Mission Trips.
- Conferences and Mission Trips will be the bulk of responsibilities for the summer.
- In conjunction with the CE Committee, plan Vacation Bible School
- In conjunction with the Outreach Committee, plan the annual Trunk or Treat and Easter Egg Hunt.
- Work with the CE Committee and the pastor to develop an outreach program to the children and youth of our community. With an emphasis in reaching out to children and youth that the Church historically has ignored (examples: children and youth in the LGTBQ+IA community, children of single parent families, etc.)
Personal Characteristics Hope is looking for in a DCYM:
- Have a strong faith in Jesus and a desire to share that faith with children and youth.
- Have a love for all children and all youth
- An understanding of Presbyterian (USA) theology and practices and/or a desire to learn about the theology and practices.
- Computer and Tech knowledgeable (comfortable using Social Media).
- Friendly and welcoming to the congregation and to the community.
